For years I had gas fumes in trunk and around back of car. Plus you all know you can't fill car but one way very slow . I clean out the vent tube also found a small rust hole in the vent tube above inside of the fender . Repaired that by cutting out rusted piece and using a piece of gas hose with clamps. I did get rid of the gas fumes but! Still can't fill it up very fast. Problem solved thanks to AMC Eagle 1984 filler neck. it has check valve init plus a bracket made on it to attach to the trunk support . I cut off about 5 inches of tube , made a bracket from some scrap metal I had. Can fill at high speed and no one can take my gas !!
